Geometry-Topology Student Workshop (October 25-30, 2021)

Recently GGTI has hosted some research workshops for graduate students and junior researchers. This will be a similar week-long program including undergraduates. The aim is to introduce them to various interesting topics of Geometry and Topology beyond what they learned in their classes, and encourage them to do research on related problems.

The goal is to create an informal environment for a small selected group of motivated students. The hope is to introduce them to interesting topics by lectures from their peers under the supervision of a senior mentor, with discussions beyond what they learn from texts. This program is not meant as a replacement for their introductory classes in the topics. All participants are expected to read from the assigned sources (e.g. chapters from various books), before coming to the meeting. Meetings will be done in a small group environment, where each participant is expected to give a talk on their assigned topic when they arrive at GGTI. The program will be dense. Student talks will be enhanced with supportive lectures by the mentor, and there will be free discussion sessions every day.

The first of these programs will be mentored by Selman Akbulut.

Organizing Committee: Üstün Yıldırım, Eylem Zeliha Yıldız, and Biricik Bilim.

Supporting Organization: TMD (Turkish Mathematical Society-MAD)

Applications for the workshop are now closed. Thank you for your interest in Geometry-Topology Student Workshop 2021!
